How do I choose the right one for me?
Data loggers are data recorders with internal memory.
Data loggers transfer recorded data to a PC in an easy-to-read and manage file format.
Temperature data logger probes mainly record the physical parameters of temperature and humidity, but can also record other physical quantities using special transducers.
Data loggers can be with or without a display.
The data loggers are equipped with long-life battery power.
The fields of application of temperature data logger probes are very broad:
- Hospital sector – Temperature control of all hospital equipment and specimen transport.
- Pharmaceutical sector – Temperature and humidity control of refrigerators, climate chambers, warehouses, pharmaceutical departments and sample transport.
- Agriculture sector – Temperature and humidity control in warehouses and greenhouses.
- Food sector – Cold chain control on transport vehicles and in storage rooms, temperature control during food distribution and transport, food hygiene control according to European HACCP regulations, temperature control during production and packaging processes.
Choosing the type of data logger
Wired Data Logger:
Wired data loggers are data collection and recording devices with programmable sampling times and do not require constant operator presence; they are small, lightweight, and virtually maintenance-free.
Wired data loggers are programmed on a PC using specific software for configuring and managing the logger.
The data logger connects to the PC via USB cable or connection interface.
After programming, the data logger is placed at the measurement site for data recording and periodically returned to the PC for data download using specific software for viewing data in graphical or tabular format, or in some models through the automatic creation of a PDF file complete with summary, graph and data table.
The data loggers signal any alarms on site through their own display or via internal LEDs and beepers.
Radio Data Logger:
Data Loggers with radio data transmission are recorders of temperature, humidity and other physical quantities, with automatic management of data and alarms in real time.
These data loggers are used in the hospital sector for automatic temperature monitoring of hospital equipment; in the chemical-pharmaceutical sector for monitoring laboratory equipment and warehouses; in the food sector for monitoring food hygiene in accordance with European HACCP regulations, monitoring the cold chain on vehicles, in storage cells, and in refrigerated counters.
Radio data loggers are easily programmable remotely, allowing you to select the data sampling interval and alarm thresholds. Data loggers communicate bidirectionally via radio (868 MHz) with the receivers. Small systems require a single radio receiver connected to the PC via a USB port; for much larger systems with measurement points located in distant buildings but connected via a LAN, radio receivers with a LAN connection (detached from local PCs) are used for centralized management of the entire system (for example, centralized management of multiple hospitals in a region). The software manages data logger configuration, real-time alarm display, including via a map, and complete data visualization via tables and multi-graphs of values with statistical analysis. The software schedules automatic data downloading from the loggers and alarm management. The most advanced software allows for management compliant with FDA CFR21/11 regulations with multiple levels of password access, division of loggers into competence groups, multi-level maps, list of all activities recorded by the software, complete management of remote alarms (Mail, SMS, etc.) and software installation in Server/Client mode.
